As we aim to accelerate growth in Canada, we are actively seeking an Operations Manager to support the launch of our newest site in Halifax, NS. Position Overview The Operations Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of a high-volume e-commerce fulfillment operation within a national third-party logistics (3PL) network. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective warehouse operations while consistently meeting customer service, productivity, quality, and delivery commitments.
The Operations Manager provides leadership across a 24x7 multi-shift environment, driving operational excellence, employee engagement, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. The role partners closely with transportation, inventory control, engineering, customer service, HR, safety, and senior leadership teams to optimize end-to-end fulfillment performance and support business growth. Key Responsibilities Operations Leadership Manage daily warehouse and fulfillment operations across inbound, inventory, picking, packing, shipping, returns, and value-added services.
Ensure uninterrupted 24/7 operational coverage through effective staffing, scheduling, and leadership presence. Deliver service levels in accordance with customer SLAs, KPIs, and contractual commitments. Lead shift managers, supervisors, and support teams to achieve operational objectives.
Monitor workflow volumes and allocate resources to meet changing customer demand. Customer & Service Excellence Act as the primary operational contact for assigned customers and internal stakeholders. Ensure order fulfillment accuracy, on-time shipment performance, and inventory integrity.
Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action plans for service failures. Support customer business reviews and operational performance reporting. Financial & Operational Performance Manage labor planning, productivity, and operational expenses to achieve budget targets.
Analyze key metrics including: Units per hour Order cycle time Dock-to-stock performance Inventory accuracy On-time shipping Labor utilization Quality and damage rates Identify opportunities to improve throughput, capacity, and cost efficiency. Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes. People Leadership Recruit, train, develop, and retain a high-performing operations team.
Manage multiple supervisors and frontline employees across several shifts. Conduct performance evaluations and development planning. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Lead employee relations activities in partnership with Human Resources. Safety & Compliance Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. Lead incident investigations and corrective action initiatives.
Maintain compliance with company policies, customer requirements, security standards, and industry regulations. Ensure operational readiness for audits and inspections. Continuous Improvement Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Drive process standardization and best-practice adoption across the site. Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and reporting tools to identify operational improvement opportunities. Lead projects related to automation, process optimization, and network initiatives.
Inventory & Quality Management Ensure inventory accuracy through effective cycle counting and inventory control processes. Oversee quality assurance programs to minimize errors, damages, and customer complaints. Partner with Inventory Control teams to resolve discrepancies and improve process reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with transportation, customer service, engineering, IT, maintenance, and HR teams. Support network-wide initiatives and operational integration activities. Participate in customer startups, peak season planning, and operational expansion projects.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred. 5โ10 years of progressively responsible warehouse, fulfillment, or distribution leadership experience. Minimum 3 years managing supervisors and large hourly workforces in a high-volume environment. Experience in e-commerce fulfillment and/or third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
Prior experience at an Amazon warehouse operation is highly preferred. Experience managing multi-shift or 24/7 operations. Preferred Qualifications Experience with automation, conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and fulfillment technologies.
Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification. Experience with major WMS platforms Knowledge of transportation, parcel, and last-mile fulfillment operations. Reporting Structure Reports To: Site Director / General Manager Direct Reports: Operations Supervisors, Team Leaders, Process Leads (as applicable) Work Environment: Fast-paced distribution center supporting national e-commerce customers with 24/7 operational requirements and seasonal peak volume fluctuations.
Base Salary: $90-95,000/year Bonus: up to 15% Health Benefits: effective from start Retirement Plan: effective from start
