Senior Backend Engineer — Backend + DevOps Location: IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai Type: Full-Time Compensation: Up to ₹15 LPA ISMO Bio-Photonics is building cutting-edge healthcare technology products aimed at transforming the future of healthcare through advanced engineering and interdisciplinary innovation. We are looking for someone with 5+ years of backend engineering experience, strong backend architecture, secure API design, cloud deployment ownership, and experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments.

What you’ll work on: → Translate business needs into technical designs, ADRs, and sequence diagrams → Build and maintain secure REST/GraphQL APIs with versioning and consistent error handling → Design data models and integrate with internal and third-party systems → Own cloud deployment, CI/CD, observability, and reliability → Lead code reviews, design reviews, and mentor engineers Key technical skills: Backend architecture, OOP, SOLID principles, clean architecture, REST/GraphQL APIs, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, RBAC/ABAC, OWASP Top 10, rate limiting, audit logging, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, query optimization, ACID, migrations, caching, fault tolerance, event-driven systems, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, logging, metrics, tracing, and AWS/Azure/GCP. Exposure to HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or equivalent privacy/security standards is strongly preferred.
