Mainframe Developer

Position Description: 3–5 years of strong hands-on experience in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS DB/DC , SORT, and mainframe utilities (IDCAMS, FILE-AID, TSO/ISPF, etc.) Proven ability to work independently on end-to-end development tasks with minimal guidance. Solid experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban), including user stories, sprint deliverables, and tools like Jira/Rally/Confluence Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) – able to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, document clearly, and present solutions Good understanding of mainframe concepts: VSAM, GDG, datasets and abend handling Experience with version control/change management tools (Endevor/ChangeMan/ISpw) and testing/debug tools (Xpediter/InterTest). Your future duties and responsibilities: • Understanding business requirements • Performing impact analysis, • Designing, Coding, Unit testing, Issue fix and resolution • Coordinating with Clients and stakeholders • Debug online and batch code using Xpeditor Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Must-Have Skills: • Strong experience in COBOL • Proficiency in JCL (Job Control Language) • Hands-on experience with VSAM • Good knowledge of DB2 • Experience with IMS DB/DC Good-to-Have Skills: • Basic knowledge of SORT and mainframe utilities (IDCAMS, FILE-AID, TSO/ISPF) • Familiarity with version control tools like Endevor, ChangeMan, or ISPW • Experience with debugging tools such as Xpediter or InterTest #LI-SP40 Skills: COBOL DB2 for z/OS Endevor JCL
