Role In your new role with GWAL, you will work under the direct supervision of the Managing Principal and be accountable to: Liaison with client & other consultants to determine project’s scope.
Document and communicate project’s scope to in-house design team members. Coordinate electrical requirements with senior mechanical engineer/designer. Coordinate with client, architect, interior designer, and other consultants.
Respect project schedule. Ensure plans and specifications conform to applicable codes, good engineering practice and project scope. Participate in maintaining firm’s quality standard.
Oversee the preparation of drawings using office CAD system. Manage/coordinate multiple projects. Oversee the performance of load calculations.
Prepare detailed design layout. Review project documentation. Participate in design review meetings.
Construction administration and site review. Stamp and sign drawings for submission to client. Mentor and develop a team of engineers and designers.
What You'll Need To Succeed University or college degree in Electrical Engineering/Design or equivalent experience from a recognized institution. Minimum 15 years of experience in a relevant engineering/design role. Must possess a valid P.Eng. license in the Province of Ontario and/or Quebec.
Valid PSPC Security Clearance or the ability to attain it. Bilingualism in French & English is an asset Demonstrates the key behaviours & professionalism for GWAL’s culture. Problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
Thorough understanding of Acts, Codes and Engineering Practices Thorough understanding of theories and principles. Demonstrates the key behaviours & professionalism for GWAL’s culture. Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, design drafting and specification writing practices an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, underpinned by a genuine passion for design engineering. Expert skills in Tools, Methods, Techniques and Practices of the industry. Strong leadership skills.
