Position Summary The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing projects from purchase order receipt through to final completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining excellent customer service. Working closely with Design, Purchasing, Fabrication, and other cross-functional teams, the Project Engineer plays a key role in coordinating technical and operational activities to achieve successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage the complete project lifecycle, including project initiation, kickoff, execution, monitoring, control, delivery, and closeout in accordance with established project management processes. Review and interpret project specifications and requirements to ensure deliverables align with customer expectations. Perform sizing and selection of system components.

Collaborate with the Project Designer to develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and layout drawings. Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs). Coordinate with the Project Designer to produce assembly and fabrication drawings.

Review, approve, and sign off on drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain engineering and design schedules and monitor progress against project timelines. Manage customer-requested scope changes, including issuing change orders and updating schedules as required.

Monitor project progress through regular shop walkthroughs and inspections. Work closely with fabrication and shop personnel to ensure product quality and compliance with project requirements. Support commissioning activities and provide technical assistance to the Service Department as needed.

Deliver projects on time and within budget. Lead project kickoff meetings, shop kickoff meetings, and model review sessions. Manage multiple domestic and international projects simultaneously.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and project stakeholders. Coordinate with Document Control to ensure operating manuals, maintenance manuals, and project documentation are completed and delivered according to schedule. Clearly communicate project objectives, deliverables, deadlines, risks, and resource requirements.

Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve project challenges and potential roadblocks. Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of project issues, lessons learned, and resolutions. Support the training and mentoring of new Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Designers.

Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng.), or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is considered an asset. 5-10 years of experience in gas compression, rotating equipment, or a related fabrication/manufacturing environment.

Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills. Hands-on, collaborative approach to working with design and fabrication teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships. Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and influencing skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
