Job Details Salary $117,820 to $137,411 Level EN‑ENG‑04 Hiring organization Transport Canada Selection process number 26‑MOT‑EA‑HRS‑03116 Closing date August 31, 2026 - 23:59 Pacific Time Position Summary MMEL Senior Engineer – Civil Aviation Branch, Transport Canada. The role involves planning, coordinating, and executing the delivery of the Civil Aviation safety oversight program through the provision of MMEL‑related engineering specialist services on aeronautical product development, design certification, and continuing airworthiness. Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and/or execute delivery of the Civil Aviation safety oversight program and provide MMEL related engineering specialist services on aeronautical product development, design certification, and continuing airworthiness.

Review MMEL for Canadian aircraft, prepare MMEL Supplements for foreign aircraft, and develop MMEL Supplements and Addendums for modifications to both Canadian and foreign aircraft. Review and assess MMEL justification data analysis provided by applicants. Support the development of regulatory updates led by the Standards Branch and participate in international and domestic committees and working groups.

Provide specialized MMEL related engineering and operational advice to Civil Aviation staff, Transport Canada, other government departments, delegates, the aviation industry, associations, international airworthiness organizations, and the public on the application of regulations, standards, policies and procedures. Qualifications Significant (at least six years) and recent (within the last ten years) engineering experience in aeronautical products in one or more of the following areas: design, development, testing, certification, in‑service support, airworthiness, aircraft dispatch or project management. Recent experience working with multiple stakeholders on collaborative projects and managing multiple conflicting priorities.

Knowledge of civil aviation airworthiness requirements and their application to aeronautical product certification. Knowledge of Canadian and International Airworthiness Requirements and Civil Air Regulations as they relate to Master Minimum Equipment Lists (MMEL) and minimum equipment lists (MEL). Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally.

Ability to analyze complex technical information and develop engineering recommendations. Language requirements: Fluency in English is required. Asset Qualifications (optional but may influence selection) Master's Degree or PhD in engineering relevant to the position.

Extensive (at least ten years) engineering experience in the design, development, testing, certification, in‑service support, or airworthiness of aeronautical products. Engineering experience related to the design, development, testing or certification of avionics, electrical systems, rotorcraft or general aviation aircraft. Engineering experience related to the development, approval or application of Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL) or Master Minimum Equipment Lists (MMEL).

Knowledge of airworthiness risk management methods, investigation and analysis of airworthiness deficiencies, System Safety Assessment (SSA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), human factors in aeronautical product design and certification, quality assurance principles, and reliability and maintainability principles related to aircraft.
