Highlights of the job EPCOR’s North American Commercial Services (NACS) group is hiring a Manager, Finance, Canada Commercial Services Finance (Full-Time Temporary, up to 21 months) based in Edmonton, AB — a high-profile leadership role at EPCOR. This opportunity is open to internal and external candidates and eligible for EPCOR’s Where We Work hybrid program, based on business needs and eligibility. This position is at the core of consolidating business unit results, delivering accurate financial reporting, and analyzing complex accounting transactions to ensure compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) standards, disclosure requirements and regulations for North American Commercial Services (NACS).

Beyond technical expertise, you’ll also play a strategic role in supporting business development initiatives, timely and accurate completion of budgets, forecasts, and strategic plan for NACS while partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions that shape EPCOR’s growth. What you’d be responsible for Reporting to the Associate Director, Finance & Regional Reporting, this position is accountable for the following: Leading and reviewing financial reporting processes to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and implementing improvements.

Leading or supporting finance-related integration activities for acquisitions, while providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for Finance-related processes. Identifying budget requirements, completing budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans for NACS while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis. Preparing financial reporting in a timely fashion, external audit requirements, and adherence to IFRS for all operations.

Acting as a Finance SME for business development, providing financial inputs, reviewing contracts, and translating business cases into budgets. Completing accounting research, drafting position papers, and addressing complex accounting issues. Maintaining high-quality internal controls and adherence to Canadian Sarbanes-Oxley (C-Sox) requirements as well as demonstrating discretion with sensitive and confidential information.

Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with senior leadership, NACS operations, project managers, business development teams, and NACS Finance counterparts. Leading and developing a strong team of employees, focusing on recruitment, retention, and development. The ideal candidate should possess natural leadership traits and confidence to foster a climate of trust and mutual respect with internal and external stakeholders.

Success in this role requires strong expertise in financial reporting and hands-on experience with IFRS standards, disclosure requirements, and regulations. What’s required to be successful Education & Designation Degree in the field of Business, Finance, or Accounting. CPA designation is required.

Experience: 7+ years in progressively responsible accounting roles 2+ years of supervisory or management experience Proven ability to provide accounting expertise for new commercial contracts and businesses, conducting accounting research, and drafting position papers. Technical Competencies Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting practices, standards, disclosure requirements, and regulatory compliance. Expertise in consolidation processes and accounting for complex transactions.

Ability to analyze and resolve complex financial accounting issues and translate business cases into accurate financial reporting. Ability to provide financial analysis and input for operations, projects, and business development management. Solid understanding of financial reporting for rate-regulated operations.

Proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle, Workday Adaptive Insights, Power BI, Databricks) and advanced Microsoft Excel for financial modeling, including the ability to dissect business cases and translate them into accurate financial reporting. Behavioral Competencies Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding, high-profile role.

Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, including working with senior leadership and business development teams. Assets Experience with business case and contract analysis. Exposure to accounting for acquisitions, commercial development projects (e.g., construction, leases), and divestitures.

Experience in the utility or other regulated industries.
