Job Description

The National Account Manager is responsible for managing and driving short-term booking opportunities for McCormick Place within the local, corporate, association SMERF markets, and events utilizing MPEA owned hotels. Key Responsibilities Business Development & Networking Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers through active participation in industry associations, sales calls, client entertainment, FAM trips, and city events. Develop partnerships with sales teams at campus hotels and Choose Chicago to drive business for both the hotels and McCormick Place.

Travel as needed to pursue targeted business opportunities and generate new leads year-round. Actively contribute ideas in brainstorming sessions to enhance promotion of the venue and its events. Lead the development of new revenue streams for McCormick Place.

Respond to assigned leads across diverse market segments, including local, corporate, association, SMERF, and events utilizing MPEA owned hotel properties. Prepare detailed proposals, evaluate business opportunities, and initiate contracts. Meet or exceed assigned sales targets.

Monitor and manage daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance reports. Client Relations & Account Management Collaborate with the Contract Manager to ensure seamless execution of contracts for assigned accounts. Manage the conversion of leads into confirmed bookings and accurately forecast group attendance.

Maintain client engagement post-turnover, serving as a key partner to ensure satisfaction and secure repeat business. Conduct facility tours for prospective clients, showcasing venue capabilities and responding to inquiries. Collaboration & Internal Coordination Organize and lead regular meetings with campus stakeholders to review opportunities and develop strategies to attract short-term events.

Partner with the Marketing Manager to create and implement sales-supporting marketing materials. Develop and maintain a comprehensive plan for role growth and performance improvement. Identify and implement creative strategies to attract new business and maximize venue utilization.

Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications 3-5 years of progressive sales experience in the hospitality industry. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Proven track record of building strong business relationships and generating new leads. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Positive, proactive attitude with a passion for achieving goals. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and database management software. Skilled in prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects, and meeting tight deadlines.
