Accounting Manager Richardson, TX One of Vaco’s defense and government-contract clients is looking for an Accounting Manager as part of a newly‑created role to help supervise a lean team through a period of heavy change. In preparation for an IPO, the department is in need of process work and streamlining of manual day‑to‑day items. Outside of the daily accounting and managing month‑end close, the role will be closely involved with job cost accounting across contracts in a compliance‑heavy environment.
Compensation: $135-150K + Bonus Day‑to‑day Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and DCAA audit standards Manage accounting for government contracts, including: Revenue recognition (cost‑plus, T&M, fixed price) Indirect rate calculations (fringe, overhead, G&A) Incurred cost submissions (ICS) Prepare and support audits, including DCAA, external auditors, and internal compliance reviews Monitor and maintain internal controls in accordance with SOX (if applicable) and government contract requirements Partner with FP&A, Contracts, and Program Management to ensure proper cost allocation and contract compliance Review and approve billing processes, ensuring alignment with contract terms and regulations Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including managers or senior accountants Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability Support ERP system optimization (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar) Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred) 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant government contracting experience Strong knowledge of: FAR, DFARS, and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards) DCAA audit processes and compliance requirements Government contract types and cost structures Experience preparing or supporting Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) and indirect rate calculations Prior experience in a leadership role managing teams and developing staff Proficiency in ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint highly preferred) and advanced Excel skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
