WINE STEWARD
La Morocha — Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles
La Morocha is a new restaurant from Chef David Castro of Fauna in Valle de Guadalupe, celebrating Baja Comfort Food and the cultures and ingredients that shape Baja California.
We are looking for a Wine Steward to join our opening team and help deliver a knowledgeable, approachable, and highly hospitable wine experience.
THE ROLEThe Wine Steward reports directly to the Wine Service Manager and supports the Wine Service Manager in executing the wine program, maintaining service standards, educating the team, and creating an exceptional guest experience.
RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the Wine Service Manager in all aspects of the wine program and daily wine operations.
Provide knowledgeable, warm, and attentive wine service.
Guide guests through the wine list based on preferences, food selections, and budget.
Develop strong knowledge of Baja California, Mexican, and international wines.
Properly open, present, decant, and serve wine.
Assist with wine inventory, receiving, organization, and cellar maintenance.
Support wine education, tastings, and training for the service team.
Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked wine service areas.
Communicate guest preferences and feedback to the Wine Service Manager.
Uphold La Morocha's standards for hospitality, professionalism, and teamwork.
Previous wine service or upscale restaurant experience preferred.
Strong foundational wine knowledge and a desire to continue learning.
Interest in Mexican wine, particularly Baja California and Valle de Guadalupe.
Excellent communication and hospitality skills.
Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
Wine certification is a plus, but not required.
Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
Someone who is curious, personable, confident, and humble—and understands that great wine service is about helping guests discover something they love, not simply demonstrating knowledge.
