The West Fargo Park District is hiring qualified Lifeguards for our outdoor water park. Position Overview As a Lifeguard, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all pool visitors. This position involves active surveillance, enforcing pool safety rules, responding to emergencies, and keeping the pool area clean and hazard-free. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lifeguard Key Responsibilities Supervise the Veterans Memorial Pool to ensure the safety of all guests.

Enforce pool rules and safety regulations. Maintain professional relationships with guests and associates. Monitor the pool area consistently and respond promptly to emergencies.

Ensure the pool and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and free from hazards. Stay knowledgeable about all emergency procedures and act swiftly when needed. Work Schedule This position offers flexible shifts during daytime, evening, and weekend hours throughout the pool season.

Physical Requirements: Lift and carry up to 50-75 lbs (e.g., rescue equipment, pulling a person from the water). Pull or drag a person to safety from the water or deck. Remain alert and maintain focus for extended periods.

Work in direct sunlight, heat, humidity, wind, and varying weather conditions. Tolerate glare, reflection, and exposure to chlorinated water. Stand, sit, kneel, climb, or remain in a fixed position for long durations.

Visual acuity to identify swimmers in distress from a distance. Hearing ability to detect whistles, calls for help, or other alarms in a noisy environment. Run short distances over wet surfaces or uneven terrain.

Quickly enter and exit the water from various positions. Minimum Qualifications Lifeguard Age Requirement: Must be at least 16 years old. Certifications (current): Lifeguard certification First Aid and CPR certification Benefits Starting pay of $17 per hour, based on experience.

Reimbursement of $160 toward certifications upon completing the 2026 pool season. $80 reimbursement for swimsuits after completing the 2026 pool season. Supplemental Information Ideal Candidate We seek motivated individuals committed to water safety and guest satisfaction. Previous experience as a lifeguard or in customer service is preferred but not required.
