Role Overview
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a business on the appointment of a Warehouse Manager to lead daily warehouse operations.
As Warehouse Manager, you will take responsibility for warehouse performance, team development and safe working practices. You will ensure orders are processed accurately, inventory records are reliable and operating costs remain within budget.
The Warehouse Manager will also lead improvements to warehouse layout, processes and productivity, working closely with Operations, Procurement, Production and Supply Chain teams.
Warehouse Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and returns, ensuring agreed service levels are met.
- Plan workloads, staffing and equipment requirements to meet operational demand and make effective use of warehouse space.
- Lead and develop warehouse employees, supervisors and team leaders through training, coaching, performance reviews and succession planning.
- Manage attendance, performance and employee relations matters in line with company policies.
- Oversee inventory control, cycle counts and annual stock takes, maintaining accurate ERP/WMS records and resolving discrepancies and slow-moving stock issues.
- Lead warehouse health and safety, including risk assessments, incident investigations and the safe operation and maintenance of material handling equipment.
- Maintain warehouse procedures, audit process compliance and ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed.
- Deliver continuous improvement projects that reduce waste and improve productivity, stock accuracy, safety and customer service.
- Monitor operational KPIs, report performance and work with internal teams and transport providers to resolve delivery and inventory issues.
- Manage warehouse operating costs, control expenditure on labour, equipment and consumables, and support budgeting and cost-saving initiatives.
To succeed as Warehouse Manager, you will need:
- Minimum of two years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience managing warehouse teams, including training, performance and attendance.
- Practical experience managing inventory control, stock counts and discrepancy investigations.
- A strong understanding of warehouse management systems and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Experience improving process compliance and delivering operational improvements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable:
- Experience in commercial distribution, manufacturing or an industrial environment.
- Experience applying Lean methods or managing change and business improvement projects.
- NEBOSH, IOSH or an equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Forklift certification or a strong understanding of material handling equipment operations.
- A Supply Chain or Logistics qualification.
