Team Overview
This position is with LaSalle’s Debt Investments team, a specialist business which invests into structured real estate debt investments (including whole loans, levered whole loans, mezzanine loans, development financing and preferred equity structures) across Europe, covering a broad spectrum of asset classes (across residential, commercial, alternative, and operational sectors). The team was set up in 2010 and has become one the largest providers of alternative finance on commercial real estate in Europe, having invested c.€6.4bn in c. 120 transactions as of August 2026.Role and Accountabilities: The role is responsible for analysing, negotiating and executing complex structured debt investment opportunities from origination to closing. The candidate will be a deal lead working directly with the team directors and have the benefit of analyst support. Responsibilities will include financial modelling, interacting with external advisors, performing detailed due diligence, preparing investment committee memorandums, presenting to investment committee and execution of investments.
The deal team works collaboratively with the loan asset management team throughout the investment life-cycle, maintaining active involvement from acquisition through asset realisation. This requires strong cross-functional collaboration with internal teams including asset management and legal, underpinned by clear and effective communication across all stakeholder groups.
In addition, the candidate will provide guidance and technical mentorship to junior team members, including reviewing financial models, coaching on due diligence, and supporting their professional development.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
5-8 years of experience in real estate investment banking, institutional commercial real estate lending, principal real estate investing and/or development, with a relevant deal specific exposure.
Demonstrated credit analysis expertise including credit underwriting, financial covenant structuring, borrower assessment, and evaluating security packages across various risk profiles.
Understanding of European property fundamentals (including operational assets) as well as an interest in real estate investments.
Working knowledge of loan documentation and legal frameworks across European jurisdictions, including familiarity with facility agreements and inter-creditor arrangements.
Demonstrated strong investment judgement with ability to assess risk-return profiles across diverse capital structures and market conditions.
Strong presentation skills, attention to detail and analytical rigor is key to the role.
Strong time management skills with ability to prioritise and work on a variety of projects simultaneously.
Deal origination experience and established relationships within the European debt capital markets community is a plus.
European languages an advantage although not a must.
