VBA Developer – Job Description Role Purpose The Advanced VBA Developer drives enterprise automation transformation by building scalable Excel-based solutions integrated with core systems (SAP, APIs, SQL, Outlook, SharePoint). This role delivers measurable cost optimization (FTE reduction), SLA improvement, and audit-compliant automation ecosystems . Business Impact • Deliver quantifiable FTE savings through automation • Improve process turnaround time (30–60%) and accuracy (≥95%) • Enable scalable, reusable automation frameworks • Strengthen audit compliance and risk controls • Reduce manual effort and operational dependency Core Responsibilities • Lead end-to-end automation lifecycle : requirement → design → build → deploy → support • Own and enhance Process Design Documents (PDDs) ensuring complete coverage of: o Business rules, exceptions, and decision logic o Compliance and audit requirements • Drive delivery within an Agile framework : o Sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups o Accurate estimation and on-time delivery of user stories • Ensure proactive stakeholder communication : o Provide regular status updates, risks, and mitigation plans o Escalate blockers early and drive resolution • Maintain strict timeline accountability : o Deliver all automation within defined SLAs o Ensure on-time closure with zero spillover • Engineer high-performance VBA solutions with modular, reusable design • Integrate Excel with enterprise systems: o APIs (REST/SOAP), SAP, SQL databases o Outlook workflows and SharePoint ecosystems • Embed: o Audit trails, validations, exception handling o Secure and compliant automation controls • Drive process re-engineering , not just automation • Ensure production stability, RCA, and continuous improvement Technical Excellence • Advanced VBA (modular coding, classes, performance optimization) • Excel advanced stack (Power Query, Power Pivot, data models) • System integration (API, SAP GUI, SQL via ADO) • Outlook & SharePoint automation • Handling large datasets (50K–2M+ records efficiently) Governance & Risk Control • Align with Automation CoE standards and SDLC practices • Deliver audit-ready solutions with full traceability • Implement data security and access controls • Maintain zero major audit observations Success Metrics (KPIs) • FTE savings delivered per automation • SLA improvement (speed, accuracy, reliability) • ≥95% error reduction • ≥30% execution efficiency gain • Reusability of components • User adoption & satisfaction • Zero critical production failures Experience Profile • 2–6 years in VBA / Automation / IT • Proven delivery of 15+ automation solutions • Experience in multi-system integrations • Exposure to operations, risk, and compliance environments Leadership Expectations • Strong ownership and accountability mindset • Analytical and process-engineering thinking • Ability to influence automation-first transformation • Clear communication with business and technical stakeholders Strategic Value to Organization This role enables a digital operations model by reducing cost, improving control, and building a future-ready automation ecosystem aligned with enterprise transformation goals .
