Urgent Treatment Centre Advanced Practitioner Make critical decisions that change lives - every day. An exciting opportunity has arisen for experiencedpractitioners to join our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), working in a variedand fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Unscheduled careoffers a dynamic setting, providing exposure to a wide range of patientpresentations.

Working within the UTC, you will practise as an autonomousclinician responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and managementof patients presenting with a broad spectrum of minor injuries and illnesses.This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills inmanaging acute presentations within an urgent care setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongsideexperienced Advanced Practitioners, GPs, and nursing colleagues, deliveringhigh-quality, patient-centred care. As an Advanced Practitioner, you willdemonstrate clinical excellence, contribute to the effective running of theservice, and support colleagues within the department.

With access to a range of diagnostic tools to supportclinical decision-making, the UTC provides an ideal environment to build onexperience gained in Emergency Departments, Walk-in Centres, General Practice,or Out of Hours services, while continuing to develop your clinical expertise. Main duties of the job As a UTC Advanced Practitioner you will: Be a registered Adult Nurse (NMC), Paramedic (HCPC) or Pharmacist (GPhC) with independent prescribing rights as a Non-Medical Prescriber and have consolidated experience in independent prescribing Hold a minimum of 2 Level 7 modules, including at least one covering advanced clinical assessment and examination skills (e.g. Advanced Patient Assessment and Management or Minor Illness/Minor Injuries) Work autonomously within a supportive, multi-professional team environment Demonstrate evidence of autonomous physical assessment and examination skills in practice Be confident in the management of minor illness and have experience or willingness to develop skills in X-ray interpretation Demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge of both common and complex urgent care presentations in adults and children Have experience working within an urgent or emergency care setting About us At DHU Healthcare, we are looking for practitioners who are specifically motivated by the UTC model.

KeyAreas of Responsibility & Accountability Clinical Topractice autonomously without direct supervision. To utilise advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat andrefer patients requiring the clinical service Torecognise the need for, initiate and where appropriate interpret relevantdiagnostic investigations. To exhibit excellent nonverbal andverbal communication skills when dealing with patients and carers. To have theability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate theseeffectively. Tomaintain appropriate clinical records in line with current practice guidelines.

To work within the parameters of yourskills and knowledge, recognising the limitations to your own practice and towork within the bounds of your training and capability according to regulatorycodes of conduct. Tomaintain an awareness of developments in clinical practice. To workeffectively as part of a multi professional team in collaboration with othermembers of the service.

Toadhere to performance measures. Toprovide health promotion/accident prevention advice for patients and carers. Topromote the protection of children and vulnerable adults in accordance withlocal safeguarding procedures.

Toadhere to the Infection Prevention and Control policy for the service beingprovided. To prescribe medication and workwithin the limitations of current extended Non-Medical Prescribing legislation. Discharge or refer patients asappropriate to internal or external clinical pathways.

The ordering, storage,administration and disposal of medicines in a safe, secure manner in accordancewith current policy and legislation. Managerial Take part in clinical audits. To attend professional meetingsand participate in team meetings.

The Clinician will work withinguidelines and policies and will support the implementation of policies in ownwork area and participate in working groups as required. To lead and participate inclinical audit cycle as required. Participate in inductions fornewly appointed staff.

Responsible for day-to-daysupervision, delegation and co-ordination of staff making the best use of theirabilities as appropriate. To participate in the appraisalprocess for themselves and others as appropriate. To identify, report and addresspoor performance issues.

To diffuse challenging behavior,ensuring that the situation is managed in a sensitive way. To ensure efficient and effectiveuse of material resources/supplies. To identify any problems withresource use/availability and make recommendations for corrective action.

Clinical Governance To participate in the clinicalgovernance requirements within the work of the organisation. To practice with the parameters ofcompany policies, protocols and guidelines. To participate in qualityimprovement within the organisation.

To assess and evaluate outcomes ofown practice, service intervention and treatment and identifies any short fallsin service reporting to relevant managers. To provide mentorship leadershipand training to other team members. To ensure the requirements ofHealth and Safety policy and legislation are maintained.

To participate in research anddevelopment activities of DHU Health Care. Education Practice Development To participate in the clinicalsupervision framework for health care professionals within the company. To offer appropriate advice to healthand social care professions on care practices, delivery and service developmentwithin the parameters of the role and scope of practice.

To participate in the ongoingindividual professional development within the organisation To mentor and role model asappropriate in the development of triage consultation, the mentorship of juniorstaff and students. To complete the mandatory trainingprogramme to ensure compliance at all times. Professional To work within the regulatoryrequirements, codes and Professional Standards of practice of the NMC/HCPC/GPhC To maintain professional andclinical competence through mechanisms of continuing professional development.
