UniVerse Developer

The Opportunity: We are partnering with a market leading financial services organisation seeking an experienced Senior UniVerse Developer to join its technology team.

This is a specialist backend development role working across a business-critical core banking platform. You will develop and enhance applications, APIs and integrations while helping the organisation progressively modernise its broader technology environment.

The role will suit an experienced UniVerse or Pick developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, supporting critical systems and working closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

The role

As part of a cross-functional development team, you will:

• Develop and enhance backend applications within a UniVerse/Pick environment
• Design, build and modify REST APIs and system integrations
• Integrate the core banking platform with surrounding applications and services
• Investigate and resolve complex production and application issues
• Contribute to solution design, technical requirements and development estimates
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business needs
• Support the ongoing improvement and modernisation of existing applications
• Share knowledge and provide guidance to other members of the development team
• Contribute to engineering standards, testing practices and continuous delivery processes

About you

To be successful, you will bring:

• Strong commercial experience developing within a UniVerse or Pick environment
• Experience with UniVerse BASIC, Pick BASIC, MultiValue or related technologies
• Backend application and integration development experience
• Experience developing and consuming REST and SOAP APIs
• Experience working within AIX, Unix or Linux environments
• Working knowledge of Python
• Experience using Git and contemporary source-control practices
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Highly regarded Experience across any of the following will be advantageous:

• Ultracs or Rocket MVIS
• Rocket U2 technologies
• PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server or MongoDB
• OAuth2 or OpenID Connect
• AWS services
• CI/CD and automated deployment tooling
• Terraform or CloudFormation
• Unit testing, TDD and end-to-end testing
• Javascript or Typescript
• Monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus or Grafana
