As a family‑owned structural steel manufacturer, we’re growing our operations, investing in new technology, and taking on exciting new projects. Our drivers play an important role in keeping our operations moving and ensuring our products get where they need to go safely, accurately and on time.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll be responsible for the transportation of structural steel and related materials throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. This role also involves loading and unloading materials and safely operating a picker truck, overhead crane, and other mobile equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company trucks and equipment, including a picker truck, to transport structural steel and related materials as required.
  • Load, secure, transport, and safely deliver materials to customers.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes, forklift and zoom boom for material movement, loading and unloading.
  • Complete accurate daily trip logs using the Motive app.
  • Complete daily pre-use inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
  • Review orders before and after delivery to ensure all materials are complete and accounted for.
  • Manage and complete required pickup and delivery paperwork.
  • Follow assigned routes and delivery and pickup schedules.
  • Comply with all applicable transportation regulations, including logbook requirements, load securement, and required load checks.
  • Maintain a safe driving record and report any vehicle or equipment concerns promptly.
  • Perform light maintenance and minor repairs to trucks and trailers as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 Drivers License
  • Clean Drivers Abstract (provided by applicant)
  • Previous experience operating a picker/crane truck is an asset.
  • Previous experience operating forklift and zoom boom is an asset.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes is an asset.
  • Ability to assess weights, judge distances, and safely navigate heights and clearances.
  • Strong time management, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Physically fit, able to safely lift and handle materials up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding work instructions and documentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform light maintenance and minor repairs to trucks and trailers.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada. LMIA sponsorship is not available.
  • Based in the Ponoka / Central Alberta Area or willing to relocate.

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $30 -$38 per hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role. We appreciate dedication and commitment, and we conduct thorough performance reviews after three months and annually to acknowledge outstanding work, provide feedback and support employee growth.
