Job Description
JJJ Trucklines is an Australian-owned and operated logistics provider offering freight, logistics, and transport solutions across the country.
The Role
This is a full-time employee role with an annual salary set at $80,000 per annum plus superannuation, and primarily based in Welshpool in WA.
The Responsibilities
- Safely operating manual and automatic Heavy Rigid trucks.
- Delivering general freight in a timely manner according to scheduled routes.
- Operating vehicles in accordance with company procedures, road transport laws and accepted safe-driving practices.
- Transporting general, palletised and air cargo freight across metropolitan, regional and interstate routes.
- Completing pre-start and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Identifying and reporting mechanical issues affecting the safe operation of the vehicle.
- Reporting unusual traffic conditions, road hazards, delivery delays and difficulties at delivery locations.
- Loading and unloading freight where required.
- Checking the condition of loads and rearranging freight where necessary for safe transportation.
- Securing freight using appropriate load-restraint techniques, including chains and chain binders.
- Handling dangerous goods where appropriately trained, licensed and authorised.
- Reviewing delivery and shipping documents to identify load requirements and any special transport conditions.
- Completing freight, delivery and transport documentation accurately.
- Maintaining records of deliveries, driving hours, mileage, pallets, mechanical issues and other operational information.
- Using GPS-based fleet-management or telematics systems for route optimisation and compliance tracking.
- Complying with fatigue-management requirements, including maintaining accurate work diaries during long-distance driving operations.
- Complying with Chain of Responsibility obligations and all applicable transport regulations.
- Providing professional customer service at pickup and delivery locations.
- Properly using and maintaining all vehicles, tools and equipment assigned for the performance of duties.
- Working independently while maintaining clear communication with the transport team.
- Using a forklift where appropriately licensed and required.
- Participating in ongoing training and career-development opportunities.
- Performing any other reasonable transport-related duties as required.
The Requirements
- A current Australian HR Driver Licence, with manual driving experience preferred.
- At least 12 months of proven experience driving Heavy Rigid manual trucks in Australia.
- At least 12 months of experience gained in a commercial driving capacity in regional or rural environments.
- At least 12 months of experience driving local WA and interstate freight routes, including routes between Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.
- At least 12 months of experience in load restraint (such as using chains and chain binders), dangerous-goods handling and freight-documentation compliance in accordance with the National Load Restraint Guide across varied freight types.
- At least 12 months of experience using GPS-based fleet-management or telematics systems for route optimisation and compliance tracking.
- At least 12 months of experience complying with fatigue-management requirements, including maintaining accurate work diaries under long-distance driving conditions.
- At least 12 months of experience conducting vehicle inspections, identifying mechanical issues and coordinating maintenance in operational transport settings.
- Must possess:
- A Fatigue Management Certificate.
- A Chain of Responsibility Certificate.
- Air Cargo Security Awareness Training.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
- At least two professional work references.
