Transportation Engineer

Description Design and manage large-scale roadway projects. Review and approve designs for regulatory compliance. Coordinate technical content and ensure quality delivery.

Meet with clients to understand and plan for project needs. Oversee project consistency, efficiency, and quality control. Prepare design calculations, cost estimates, and contract documents.

Conduct field assessments and document existing conditions. Support proposal development and attend industry events. Mentor and supervise junior engineers, providing technical guidance and career development.

Skills Microstation, roadway design, Civil engineering, Civil 3d, Highway, Transportation, Traffic engineering, Transportation engineering, Highway design, dot, design, civil design, interstate design, drainage design Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Illinois DOT projects. Expert knowledge of IDOT Design Manuals, Standards, Specifications, and Guidelines. Experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD).

Excellent technical writing with the ability to develop work plans and document technical discussions required. Successful multidisciplinary team/task management or design lead experience. Proficient in 3D and 4D Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software and techniques Strong understanding of engineering design principles Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word Excellent written and verbal communication skills In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations Familiar with industry design standards such as AASHTO and NACTO Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $94000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
