Transportation Design Engineer

Base pay range $40.00/hr - $50.00/hr Position Overview CKL Engineers is a multi-disciplinary professional services firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Orlando, Florida. We provide infrastructure planning, engineering, and construction management services to a variety of public and private clients. CKL is looking for talented leaders to build upon our strengths and grow locally, regionally, and nationally.

Responsibilities Use manuals, guidance, standards, and engineering judgment to provide infrastructure solutions on regional surface transportation projects. Provide design and construction management services for clients and partner firms, including on‑site project representation/inspection throughout Chicago and/or Northern Illinois. Facilitate client interactions to build your network and demonstrate leadership within CKL and the industry.

Be a strong consensus builder and team player. Be a continuing learner – willing to challenge yourself and grow with the company. Be skilled in technical writing, documentation, proposal writing, and presentations.

Be willing to take on a myriad of tasks inside and outside of the market to sustain and grow a small business. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field required. P.E. preferred.

E.I.T required with ability to receive P.E. license within 1 year. Knowledge and experience working with CAD design software such as MicroStation/GEOPAK/AutoCAD/Civil3D. 4–8 years of experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Private and/or public sector engineering experience. Qualified applicants must pass background and substance abuse test. Qualified applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
