Job Details Location 1103 Parsons Road SW, Edmonton, AB, T6X 0X2, Canada Job Category Magna IV Engineering Employee Type Non-Exempt FT Required Degree 4 Year Degree Travel 75% Manage Others Yes Job Summary The Transformer Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing field service operations related to transformer installation, maintenance, testing, and repair. This role oversees field personnel, ensures customer satisfaction, drives safety and compliance, and manages project execution from planning to completion. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of power transformers and experience supervising field teams on site at client facilities.

Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and execute transformer field service projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery. Coordinate with engineering, logistics, procurement, and customer teams. Develop scopes of work, project plans, and risk mitigation strategies.

Team Supervision Manage, train, and support field service technicians and engineers. Ensure workforce scheduling aligns with workload and customer demand. Conduct performance evaluations and promote technical excellence.

Customer Interface Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during field service engagements. Address client inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure satisfaction. Develop and maintain strong client relationships to drive repeat business.

Technical Oversight Provide technical guidance on transformer assembly, insulating fluid filling, maintenance, testing, commissioning, and failure analysis. Ensure quality control standards are met across all field activities. Review field reports and deliver technical documentation.

Compliance & Safety Enforce adherence to safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies. Lead root cause analyses for any field incidents or equipment failures. Maintain environmental and regulatory compliance.

Track project costs and contribute to budget planning. Approve field service expenses and ensure cost efficiency. Assist in developing service pricing and proposals.

Support sales by identifying service opportunities. Provide input on service offerings, tools, and process improvements. Assist in the development of long-term growth strategies for transformer services.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field such as Electrical Engineering Technician, Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Millwright or equivalent experience. 7+ years in transformer service or related power systems field. 3+ years of experience supervising field service teams or projects. Familiarity with OEM and third-party transformer maintenance practices. In-depth knowledge of transformer construction, diagnostics, oil processing, and refurbishment.

Experience with test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Vanguard, or equivalent. Experience with oil processing and vacuum filling equipment. Strong understanding of high-voltage substation environments.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Has or able to obtain a Class 3 Drivers license and able to safely tow 3-axle trailers. Able to travel in Canada and the US, as projects sites will be all across North America. #J-18808-Ljbffr
