Trainee Weighbridge Supervisor

Permanent / Full time Position (40/hrs per week) Monday to Friday

Hours: will be discussed at interview

Location: Duncrue Street, Belfast (however due to the nature of the post, the successful candidate must be willing to travel to other sites (transport will be provided), as and when required.

We are looking to appoint a Trainee Weighbridge Supervisor to join our busy Transport team. The ideal candidate must have a genuine interest in developing a career in Transport and enjoy working with people.

The Weighbridge Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the weighbridge function across site(s), ensuring accurate processing of all vehicle movements, excellent customer service, and full compliance with regulatory and company procedures.

This role combines operational supervision, team leadership, and administrative control, supporting both site and transport operations while maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and data integrity.

As you progress through your training plan, the key Duties and Responsibilities are:

  • Oversee all weighbridge activities, ensuring accurate recording of inbound and outbound loads.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, duty of care requirements, and company procedures.
  • Verify customer accounts, waste types, and documentation (e.g., transfer notes, permits).
  • Monitor and maintain weighbridge systems, reporting faults promptly.
  • Conduct audits and checks on weighbridge data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Lead, supervise, and support the weighbridge team across shifts.
  • Manage rota planning, holidays, and absence cover to ensure continuous operation.
  • Provide training and mentoring to team members, promoting best practice and consistency.
  • Conduct performance reviews and address any performance or conduct issues.
  • Act as the first point of contact for drivers, customers, and site visitors.
  • Deliver a professional, efficient, and customer-focused service at all times.
  • Resolve queries, discrepancies, and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with transport, operations, and commercial teams to support business needs.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all H&S policies.
  • Identify and report hazards, near misses, and incidents.
  • Ensure safe vehicle movement within the site and proper driver adherence to site rules.
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions, tickets, and documentation.
  • Support finance with invoicing queries and data validation.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives across site operations

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in a weighbridge, logistics, transport, or waste management environment.
  • Strong leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • IT literate (weighbridge systems, MS Office).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of waste legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using industry systems (e.g., weighbridge software, transport systems).
  • Experience in a multi-site or high-volume operation.
