Trainee Telecoms Technician - Splicing

Circet IRELAND are looking for a Trainee Fibre Cabling and Spicing Technician to join our team in Leinster Region.

Responsibilities of Fibre Splicing Engineer:

• Provide splicing assistance to experienced fiber optic cable splicer
• Have interest in and some experience with various splice closures and fibre optic cables
• Carry out fibre optic cable installation and cable management
• Proving and cable installation of cable through UG Ducts and internal cable routes when required
• Cable management, labelling, containment installation, etc
• Learn on the job and if deemed suitable work towards classroom training and certification
• Be able to read and understand test results for troubleshooting
• Be willing to work outside normal hours if required
• Ensure the highest standard is maintained across the network
• Observe and learn live network Fusion splicing and testing of external optical fibers in line with quality standards using OTDR /ILM/PMD/CD/EXFO FTB200 or similar
• Working as an individual and as a part of team to achieve targets and KPI’s
• Adherence with Health and Safety legislation

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

• A basic understanding and some experience with fibre cables and networks
• The ability and desire to work as part of a team but be focused on individual goals
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work at heights and confined spaces
• Ability to work in all weathers
• Knowledge of health and safety practices including risk assessments.
• A Full/clean driving license is essential
• CSCS/CSR qualification would be an advantage
• IPAF Certificate Cherry Picker (Desirable)
