Territory Manager

As a Territory Manager, you help developing and established customers leverage our various services, optimize their product usage and maximize their profits.

Job Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and manage both established and new customers, by selling food and non-food items to achieve sales and profitability goals. You will be responsible for owning client relationships, engaging customers in value-added activities, leveraging resources for top penetration opportunities, and opening new accounts. New hires will complete a comprehensive training program before being assigned to a territory.

Main Ingredients of the Job

  • Foster customer relationships in a team-based selling model.
  • Manage deliveries to the routing schedule and troubleshoot any issues (e.g., delivery mis‑picks, short loads, stock‑outs).
  • Collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and client; collect all balances due based on approved credit terms.
  • Leverage other resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and new account openings.
  • Develop new business by identifying prospective customers using market intelligence databases, business directories, leads from existing clients, organizational participation, and trade shows and conferences.
  • Know market conditions, product innovations, competitor products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added services.
  • Drive a vehicle to existing customers and prospects to ensure product delivery, possibly lifting or carrying up to 75 lbs.

What You Bring to the Table

  • One or more years of sales experience (foodservice industry preferred) or culinary/restaurant management experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and good standing motor‑vehicle record.
  • Problem‑solving ability and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office products.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Candidates who have received a DUI conviction for drug or alcohol within the last three years will not be considered eligible.
  • Other license history is reviewed and must meet company standards.

Work Environment

Frequently outside the office, working in the field under variable weather and temperature conditions.

Compensation

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The initial expected base rate for this role is between $55,000 – $95,000.
