Temporary Consultant Endocrinologist Integrated Care

Our client seeks an outstanding, patient-focused Consultant Endocrinologist & General Physician to join a dynamic Department of Endocrinology and Internal Medicine.

The successful candidate will lead specialist outpatient clinics, manage inpatient admissions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality diabetes, metabolic, and endocrine care.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Provide specialist diagnostic, therapeutic, and management services for complex endocrine disorders, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, thyroid diseases, and lipid management.

• Inpatient Management: Participate on the General Internal Medicine (GIM) call roster and oversee inpatient care, grand rounds, and acute assessments.

• Multidisciplinary Leadership: Work alongside clinical nurse specialists, dietitians, podiatrists, and surgical teams to expand integrated community and hospital care pathways.

• Service Development: Drive clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and service expansion within the Regional Health Area structure.

• Teaching & Research: Mentor registrars, NSHDs, and medical students while engaging in clinical research and continuous professional development.

• Registration: Specialist Registration in Endocrinology & Diabetes Mellitus and General Internal Medicine with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility for immediate registration.

• Qualifications: MB BCh BAO or equivalent medical degree, alongside relevant higher specialist training (CSCST or equivalent).

• Experience: Proven track record in consultant-level clinical care, acute medicine, and team leadership.

• Competencies: Excellent communication, decision-making, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
