Post: Technology and Maintenance Technician
Hours: FullTime37.5hoursperweek,permanentcontract
Salary Scale: NJC Scale points 11-14 (£28,142 - £29,540)
Placement on the scale will depend on experience.
Responsibleto: The Head of Department (HOD) and Head of Corporate Services
Main Purpose of Job:To assist the Head of Department and other teaching staff in the preparation of materials and the management of resources along with completing minor repairs within their skillset to support the Corporate Services department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:Under the direction of the HOD & Head of Corporate Services, the post holder will be responsible for the following in accordance with appropriate regulations.
- Provisionandmaintenanceoffacilitiesandpracticalresources
- Prepare,organiseandconstructbasicresourcesforteacherdemonstrations,practicalexaminations, primary school visits and other school events.
- Setoutequipmentandmaterialsfor classuseandremovesame whenclassiscomplete.
- AssistinTechnologyandDesignandConstructionpractical classeswhenrequired.
- Collect,cleanandstoreequipmentandmaterialsindesignatedstorage areas.
- Disposeofusedmaterialsinasafeandapprovedmanner.
- InformtheHODofmaterialsandequipmentfoundtobeinanunsatisfactory/unsafeconditionand arrange for repair and disposal of such items.
- Followhealthandsafety adviceinrelationtotheuseofequipment.
- Prepare&set-updisplaysforOpenNightsand attendingfordemonstrationsasrequired.
- To service and maintain workshop tools and machines.Use CAD (Computer Aided Design) software and setup CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) machines. Specialist training can be provided as required.
- Administration
- Operation ofmanual and /orcomputerised systems in relation to administrativetasks associated with the area of work.
- Maintenanceofinventoryrecordsofdepartmental resources.
- Assistance in the ordering/purchasing, receiving, checking, storing and distribution of resources.
- GeneralDuties
- To complete maintenance and general repair tasks across the school site, within the competence of theemployee, as directed by the Head of Corporate Services.
- Supportallstaffinensuringthegeneralsafetyofpupils.
- Assist with evacuation in emergencies.
All staff within the school are expected to work flexibly as a team, helping each other in times of need. It will also be necessary for staff to undertake appropriate training.

A-Level in a Technology and Design subject grade A-C or equivalent orTrade background such as plumber, joiner or electrician
Experience working with workshop toolsandequipmentorCAD/CAM equipment
ExperiencecompletingDIYtype repairs
Working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures.
2. Disposition
Ability to take initiative when the situation arrives.
