Assignment: Teacher on Call – JOHNSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (JES) – Watson Lake
Start Date: August 26, 2026

Home to the Liard First Nation people, Johnson Elementary School is one of 11 Yukon schools who have joined the newly established First Nation School Board (FNSB) in the Yukon. Dene Zāgé'- Kaska is the traditional language of the Liard First Nation people.

Qualifications and Experience

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent experience
• Experience working with school aged students is preferred

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain an authentic relationship with the local Yukon First Nation people, community members, community Elders, and families, promoting greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming;
• Eagerness to learn about and integrate the local Yukon First Nation culture & worldview, and the language in the classroom;
• Able to follow and carry out instructions with little supervision, and,
• Communicates clearly and respectfully.

• Have and maintain a RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check Additional Information

Required Documents

• RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check, and,
• Reference (2-3 contacts)

If you are a certified teacher, please include:

• Recent teaching reports or practicum reports;
• Transcripts from your program;
• A copy of the credential received after completing your program, and,
• A copy of your teaching certificate
