Job Description
Yellowknife Education District No. 1 invites applications for the following position:
Responsive Inclusive Secondary Education Teacher
Ecole Sir John Franklin HighSchool
Grade 9 to 12
Part Time (75% FTE)
2026/2027School Year
Though this position will mostly be teaching the RISE program, the assignment will also include at least one humanities class as well.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Education Degree, a NWT Teacher Certification and :
- Understanding and ability to implement inclusive strategies, practices and interventions
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers within the school
- Knowledge of utilizing class profiles to inform practices
- Understanding of the response to intervention model
- Experience modifying and individualizing programming to meet student goals, strengths and needs
- Understanding of universal design for learning and tiered support
- Experience working with students with complex needs
- Understanding of backwards design
- Understanding of triangulation of evidence of learning
- Knowledge and understanding of inquiry based learning
- Experience in area of curriculumand cross curricular planning and delivery
- Training in or experience teaching humanities would be considered an asset
Candidates must have an original acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) in place. The original VSC must be dated within 90 days of the date the application is received. This is a condition of employment, and must be in place prior to commencing work in any school.
