Job description SAP Technical Consultant Experience: 2 to 7 years only Mode of Interview: Face to Face only Date: 16 May 2026 - Saturday Time: 9 AM to 12 PM Location: Kolkata Drive Location : Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Gitanjali Park, Kolkata Role & responsibilities Role : SAP Technical (ABAP/BASIS/Security) Required Technical Skill Set: Strong knowledge in ABAP/4 programming/ SAP Basis administration/Security Authorization in ECC and/or S4 Environment Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency) Must-Have: SAP ABAP · Strong hands-on experience in ABAP/4 programming · Debugging techniques and performance optimization · Good understanding of SAP Data Dictionary (DDIC) objects · Experience supporting SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA systems SAP BASIS/Security · Perform core SAP Basis administration (startup/shutdown, profiles, parameters, RFCs, transports, client operations) · Manage SAP kernel upgrades, support package updates, system refreshes, and SUM-based maintenance · Administer SAP HANA database (backup/restore, performance tuning, system replication, resource monitoring). · Manage transport management (CTS/CTS+, ChaRM optional) ensuring stable and error-free movements · Proficient in SAP Authorization - GRC, BOBJ, ECC, HR or similar Good-to-Have SAP ABAP · Expertise in IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs · Expertise in: Reports, Module Pool, Enhancements · ALV (Grid/List), Classical & Interactive Reports · SmartForms / Adobe Forms / SAP Scripts · Debugging techniques and performance optimization · Good understanding of SAP Data Dictionary (DDIC) objects SAP BASIS/Security · Configure and maintain monitoring & alerting tools (SAP Solution Manager, Azure Monitor, CC dashboards). · Support cloud-hosted SAP environments on Azure/AWS (VM sizing, storage, backups, OS monitoring) · Handle daily monitoring (ABAP/Java stack, HANA, OS, filesystem, queues, logs, dumps, ICM, Gateway) · Troubleshoot P1/P2 production issues and coordinate with SAP OSS (including Maximum Attention cases) · Support cloud-hosted SAP environments on Azure/AWS (VM sizing, storage, backups, OS monitoring) · Perform OS-level checks on Linux/Unix relevant to SAP (filesystem, swap, memory/CPU, kernel params) · Support and maintain DR/HA setups (HANA System Replication, Enqueue Replication Server, clusters). · BODS, IDM & HANA Authorization Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role (SAP ABAP): 1 Provide L2/L3 production support for SAP ABAP applications across modules such as SD, MM, FI, HR, etc. 2 Analyze and resolve incidents, defects, and service requests within defined SLAs 3 Support and enhance objects such as Reports, ALV, User Exits, BAdIs, Enhancements, SmartForms, SAP Scripts, Adobe Forms. 4 Work on IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, file interfaces, and middleware-related issues (e.g. IIB) 5 Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and provide permanent fixes for recurring issues 6 Support transport management, including creation, testing, and movement across landscapes 7 Collaborate with functional consultants to understand business requirements and deliver technical solutions 8 Participate in system monitoring, performance tuning, and proactive issue prevention 9 Maintain technical documentation and provide knowledge transition (KT) support as required. Work with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.
