Job Description

Goodfin Engagement: Consultant or Part-Time (with potential to transition in-house) Focus: SPV tax structuring, K-1 preparation & filing, and QSBS analysis About Goodfin Goodfin is an AI-native investment platform for private markets. We structure and manage SPVs that give accredited investors access to pre‑IPO and private investment opportunities, with a strong emphasis on transparency, quality, and investor experience. The Role We're looking for an experienced tax professional to own Goodfin's SPV tax function end-to-end — from structuring new vehicles to preparing and filing K-1s and leading QSBS analysis.

This role starts as a consulting or part-time engagement, with a clear path to grow into a fractional or full-time in-house position as deal volume scales. You won't be reviewing work handed to you — you'll be the one preparing and filing it. You'll work closely with operations, product, and legal to ensure our tax posture is sound and our investor reporting is accurate and timely.

What You'll Do Prepare and file partnership tax returns (Form 1065), investor K-1s, and all related federal and state compliance filings for Goodfin's SPVs — independently, not in a review capacity Advise on tax structuring of SPVs (partnerships, LLCs, blockers where applicable) Ensure tax allocations align with economics, operating agreements, and distribution waterfalls Lead QSBS analysis at the company, deal, and SPV level — including eligibility, holding periods, and documentation Support investor-facing tax questions related to K-1s, QSBS, rollovers, and exit scenarios Coordinate with legal counsel on structuring decisions that impact tax outcomes Identify tax risks, edge cases, and opportunities as deal volume increases Build scalable tax processes and internal documentation What We're Looking For 3-5+ years of experience in partnership tax, fund tax, or private investment tax — with direct, hands‑on responsibility for preparing and filing returns, not just supporting or reviewing them Hands‑on experience preparing and filing Form 1065 and K-1s — this is a doing role, not an oversight role Deep expertise in SPV structures, partnership allocations, and tax reporting Demonstrated experience with QSBS (Section 1202) analysis and structuring Strong judgment and ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to investors and internal teams High attention to detail and comfort operating independently with minimal directionComfort working cross‑functionally with business and product teams Bonus: experience at a startup or working alongside technical/product teams Engagement & Growth Path Initial consulting or part-time engagement tied to deal flow and tax cycles Clear path to grow into a fractional or full‑time in-house tax role Increasing scope over time: structuring, policy, investor communications, and tax product input Why This Role Matters Tax reporting is a key investor touchpoint — accuracy and timeliness directly affect trust QSBS outcomes materially impact investor returns You'll influence how a modern private investing platform handles tax at scale Rare opportunity to own the tax function from the ground up — not just service it #J-18808-Ljbffr
