Job Description

Brand, Content & Creative Excellence (30%)

  • Own Samba’s brand — its voice, visual identity, positioning, and the way the company shows up in the world.
  • Build a content engine that produces consistently and earns attention: editorial, long‑form, social, video, data reports, and owned media — not just campaign bursts tied to product launches.
  • Craft compelling brand stories that showcase Samba’s unique data advantage and AI innovation in a sea of ad tech noise — with the sensibility of a brand builder, not a demand gen operator.
  • Lead creative development across all channels — from data visualizations and infographics to video, case studies, and executive thought leadership.
  • Produce or directly oversee production of high‑quality marketing materials; must bring a portfolio of work you and your team have created.
  • Build thought leadership programs positioning Samba executives as genuine industry authorities on TV measurement, AI, and advertising effectiveness.
  • Leverage our data goldmine: Turn Samba’s viewership and behavioral insights into industry reports and content that earn press coverage on their own merit.
  • Develop website strategy ensuring our digital presence reflects our innovation and is optimized for impact and conversion.
  • Translate technical complexity into clear, compelling narratives for advertisers, agencies, publishers, and — where relevant — consumer audiences who interact with Samba‑powered experiences.
  • Build a multi‑year brand architecture plan that gives Samba a distinct, durable identity across B2B and consumer contexts.

Strategic Leadership & Vision (20%)

  • Define and own Samba’s comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with business objectives, revenue targets, and product roadmap.
  • Drive brand positioning as the independent, trusted leader in TV viewership data, AI‑powered measurement, and cross‑screen advertising.
  • Develop go‑to‑market strategies for product launches, new markets, and strategic initiatives across our data, measurement, and audience solutions.
  • Shape market narratives around TV’s evolution, streaming economics, AI in advertising, and privacy‑safe data activation.
  • Report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, influencing company strategy and direction.
  • Build and execute a strategic roadmap that balances quick wins with long‑term brand building.

AI‑Powered Marketing Innovation (20%)

  • Own Samba’s AI marketing agenda — this is not a side project, it’s a core part of the job.
  • Build AI‑native workflows across content production, creative iteration, campaign optimization, personalization, and audience targeting.
  • Identify and deploy the best generative AI, automation, and agentic tools available — and replace them when something better comes along.
  • Use AI to dramatically expand what the marketing team can produce without proportionally expanding headcount.
  • Develop Samba’s own AI‑powered content and insights products as marketing assets — we have the data, the story is ours to tell.
  • Share learnings openly across the organization: what’s working, what’s not, and what’s next.
  • Stay ahead of the curve on AI trends in marketing technology and push the team to experiment continuously.
  • Position Samba as a thought leader on AI in advertising — not just a practitioner but a voice the industry listens to.

Team Building & Operations (10%)

  • Build and lead a high‑performing marketing organization that is creative‑first, metrics‑aware, and aligned with company goals.
  • Hire A+ talent across brand, content, creative, product marketing, digital marketing, and marketing operations.
  • Create operational excellence: implement efficient processes, project management systems, and cross‑functional workflows.
  • Manage marketing technology stack and optimize tools for automation, analytics, attribution, and campaign execution.
  • Foster collaboration with Product, Sales, Customer Success, Data Science, and Engineering teams.
  • Manage the marketing budget strategically, reallocating resources based on performance and ROI.

External Representation & Industry Presence (10%)

  • Represent Samba at key industry events including CES, Cannes Lions, Advertising Week, and IAB — prioritizing moments where Samba’s presence will create real impact.
  • Speak at conferences, participate in panels, and contribute to industry conversations.
  • Build relationships with key industry analysts (Forrester, Gartner, eMarketer) and ensure Samba is positioned favorably.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with industry organizations and ecosystem players.
  • Plan Samba’s event presence 12+ months in advance — no last‑minute scrambles.

Revenue Growth & Performance Marketing (10%)

  • Support revenue‑impacting metrics in partnership with Sales: pipeline contribution, customer acquisition cost (CAC), and marketing ROI.
  • Optimize the funnel from brand awareness through demand generation, lead nurturing, and sales enablement.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership to ensure marketing‑sales alignment and lead quality.
  • Drive account‑based marketing (ABM) strategies targeting enterprise accounts and agency holding companies.
  • Implement data‑driven decision frameworks using marketing automation and attribution modeling.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in B2B enterprise marketing selling to advertisers, agencies, publishers, or technology platforms.
  • Deep ad tech or martech industry experience: Understanding of programmatic advertising, measurement, data platforms, identity solutions, or marketing technology ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated revenue impact: Quantifiable examples of driving customer acquisition, pipeline growth, revenue contribution, and marketing ROI.
  • Team building expertise: Experience scaling marketing teams from 5‑10 to 30+ people while maintaining high performance and culture.
  • C‑level presence: Comfortable presenting to boards, investors, customers, and at major industry conferences.

The Art: Creative Excellence

  • Exceptional storytelling ability with a strong creative vision for brand, content, and campaign development.
  • Portfolio of work: Must provide examples of compelling creative campaigns, content, videos, infographics, or materials you've overseen.
  • Strong writing skills: Ability to craft executive messaging, thought leadership, and persuasive marketing copy.
  • Visual communication prowess: Experience directing or creating data visualizations, infographics, and presentation materials.
  • Brand architecture expertise: Track record of building or repositioning brands in competitive markets.
  • Content strategy mastery: Understanding of what content drives engagement at each stage of the B2B buyer journey.

The Science: Metrics & Operations

  • Data‑driven decision maker: Obsessed with metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and performance optimization.
  • Deep analytics expertise: Proficiency with Google Analytics, marketing automation platforms (HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot), BI tools (Tableau, Looker), and attribution modeling.
  • Revenue metrics fluency: Can articulate CAC, LTV, MQL‑to‑SQL conversion rates, pipeline velocity, marketing attribution, and ROI by channel.
  • Marketing operations excellence: Experience implementing efficient processes, tech stacks, and cross‑functional workflows.
  • Budget management: Demonstrated ability to allocate millions in marketing spend efficiently and adjust based on performance.
  • Strong POV on metrics: Can walk into any room and articulate exactly what's working, what's not, and what you'd change.

Cultural Fit & Pace

  • Thrives in fast‑paced chaos: You don't just tolerate ambiguity—you thrive in it.
  • Bias toward action: Ships and iterates rather than waiting for perfection.
  • Organized under pressure: Maintains structure and discipline even when "jumping from one fire to the next".
  • High emotional intelligence: Builds trust across teams and handles feedback with grace.
  • Resilient and tenacious: Doesn't get rattled by setbacks; maintains momentum through challenges.
  • Collaborative leadership style: Leads through influence, not authority; builds alignment without territoriality.
  • Hustle and hunger: Your drive overpowers your ego every time.

Specialized Skills

  • PR background strongly preferred: Experience managing PR agencies, media relations, and executive communications.
  • Sales acumen: Can support the sales team by "selling" in client presentations or at industry events (bonus if you've carried a quota).
  • Event marketing expertise: Proven ability to plan, execute, and measure ROI from trade shows, conferences, and proprietary events.
  • Strategic partnerships: Experience building co‑marketing relationships with ecosystem partners.
  • Account‑based marketing (ABM): Hands‑on experience with ABM platforms and strategies targeting enterprise accounts.
  • B2B SaaS expertise: Understanding of subscription business models, customer lifetime value, and retention marketing.
  • AI marketing capabilities: Active user of AI tools for content creation, campaign optimization, and marketing automation.

Personal Attributes

  • Enterprise‑grade polish with consumer ease: Our solutions need to feel as intuitive as an iPhone despite being enterprise B2B.
  • Industry passionate: Stays current on ad tech innovation, AI trends, TV/streaming evolution, and privacy regulations.
  • Intellectually curious: Asks provocative questions that challenge the status quo.
  • Executive presence: Commands a room while remaining approachable and authentic.
  • Growth mindset: Views every failure as a learning opportunity and shares lessons openly.
  • Strategic yet tactical: Can zoom out to 30,000‑foot strategy and zoom in to execution details.
  • Comfortable with complexity: Can translate technical concepts (AI/ML, identity graphs, ACR technology) into compelling narratives.
