Job Description
Responsibilities Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers within a multi‑discipline team throughout the full project lifecycle. Lead substation engineering teams—including P&C, Civil, Structural, and Physical—to ensure quality, coordination, and timely delivery of all design packages. Establish and maintain client relationships; participate in design and production meetings related to substation and electrical systems. Serve as Electrical Engineering Manager on multiple projects, providing technical leadership and oversight. Conduct design development and contract document work sessions in collaboration with the Project Manager and other disciplines. Implement and enforce QA/QC processes across engineering disciplines; participate in code compliance reviews with governing agencies. Manage project workload and coordinate team efforts to meet schedule and quality expectations. Track technical progress and adjust team activities to align with project goals. Mentor junior engineers and designers; support technical development and consistency across the team.
Perform other duties as required. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering Minimum of 10 years of experience in substation electrical design Strong understanding of substation power systems, protection and control, and grounding design Proficiency with power system analysis and design tools (e.g., ETAP, CYME), and Microsoft Office Knowledge of substation physical layout, P&C, grounding, and major equipment specifications (e.g., power transformers, breakers, switches, and steel structures) is an asset Previous experience with utilities or engineering consulting firm Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering Minimum of 10 years of experience Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer, PE or P.Eng) Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit) An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture Primary Location: Canada-Alberta-Calgary Industry: Power Schedule: Full-time Employee Status: Regular Business Class: Substation Engineering Job Posting: Apr 13, 2026 We are committed to the principles of employment equity.
