Substation Engineer (P&C / Design Focus) Lewisville, TX (Hybrid: Mon–Wed onsite, Thu–Fri remote) Contract-to-Hire Overtime Available About the Company This opportunity sits within a well-established power delivery team supporting utility substation projects across the U.S. The group operates in an EPC-style environment, working across engineering, design, and construction to deliver projects from concept through execution. You’ll be joining a team that supports both substation upgrades and new builds, with exposure to design, studies, and field coordination.

It’s a strong fit for someone looking to build depth in substation engineering while working alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects. Responsibilities Support the development of substation design deliverables, including wiring diagrams, schematics, BOMs, and as-built drawings. Assist with engineering calculations and studies, including relay burden, short circuit, load flow, and grounding.

Contribute to P&C design efforts, including relay and control system design. Support physical design coordination, including layouts and equipment integration. Apply engineering tools for relay coordination, transformer sizing, and system studies.

Work with project teams to help track schedules and maintain deliverables. Ensure designs follow applicable NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards. Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing records.

Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project teams to support delivery. Participate in site visits and field exposure to support construction and design validation. Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field). 2–7 years of substation engineering or design experience.

Experience with P&C design, including schematics and wiring diagrams. Basic understanding of protective relays, metering, and control systems. Familiarity with substation components and design documentation.

Exposure to engineering studies (short circuit, grounding, load flow, relay coordination). Working knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI standards. Ability to manage tasks across multiple projects and work within a team environment.

Strongly Preferred Experience in a consulting, EPC, or utility environment. Hands-on experience with relay coordination or system studies. Exposure to both P&C and physical substation design.
