Job Description
Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our specialty construction company. We focus in light gauge steel structures like carports, equipment canopies, and solar structures. As a small business with thirty years in construction, we are looking for a long-term employee who can learn the ins and outs of our methods to provide quality products for our many varied applications. Much of our work is design build so we need someone willing to think outside the box and can work with architects to bring their vision to life while still maintaining our standards and methods. Current Oregon and Washington engineering stamps are required for any applicant. We also work in several other states but will assist with acquiring these stamps with a one-year contract. Responsibilities • Prepare detailed submittals including calculations and site-specific drawings • Oversee construction activities on-site, providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with safety standards and design specifications. This could involve overnight travel a few times a year. • Strong understanding of current building codes and maintaining continuing education for licensure. • Work closely with project manager to meet deadlines and incorporate client changes. Skills • Understanding of geotechnical reports and how to use them to determine footing sizes. • Ability to work on more than one project at a time and deliver preliminary plans in a timely manner to issue quotes to prospective clients by bid dates.
