Job Description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a hugely successful food manufacturer on the appointment of a Strategic Procurement Specialist on a full-time permanent role. This is a broad, commercially focused role rather than a traditional purchasing position. You will support strategic sourcing, tender activity, contract management, procurement analytics, supplier performance, MRP and inventory optimisation.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement, the Procurement Specialist will provide analytical, commercial and procurement support across both Direct and Indirect Procurement.

Key Responsibilities
- Support strategic sourcing activity across Direct and Indirect Procurement, identifying opportunities to improve value and reduce cost.
- Lead and support competitive tender exercises, including supplier evaluation, bench-marking and commercial analysis.
- Prepare total cost of ownership assessments, business cases and commercial recommendations to support procurement decisions.
- Support supplier negotiations and identify opportunities for cost, value and performance improvement.
- Manage and maintain the supplier contract life-cycle, including renewals, amendments, compliance and the Procurement contract register.
- Analyse complex procurement and ERP data to identify trends, risks, anomalies, savings opportunities and commercial insight.
- Develop procurement dashboards, KPI reporting, spend analysis and executive-level reports for senior management and Group Procurement.
- Support Material Requirements Planning (MRP), demand planning and forecasting to ensure effective material availability.
- Analyse inventory performance and identify opportunities to reduce excess, obsolete and slow-moving stock.
- Build strong relationships with NPD, Production, Planning, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain and Group Procurement to deliver procurement objectives.
- Support procurement governance, policy compliance, budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Present clear, evidence-based procurement recommendations to senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making through strong commercial and analytical insight.
Criteria
- Ideally 4+ years recent experience in a similar strategic position within manufacturing.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience working with complex data-sets.
- Experience in strategic sourcing, tendering and contract management.
Desirable
- Food Manufacturing experience
- SAP experience
