Job Description
Overview The Women's Clinical Service Unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust seeks registered nurses to support the Gynaecology specialty at St Jamess University Hospital in Leeds. The role involves working across the Gynaecology Outpatient Department, Ward J24 and the Gynaecology Assessment and Treatment Unit (GATU). Minimum contact is 17.25 hours per week, with a maximum of 34.5 hours, depending on the department's needs.
The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care, support the unregistered nursing and Nurse Associate workforce, and work a 7‑day pattern, including nights on Ward J24. Job Responsibilities Provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care. Deliver care without supervision.
Take charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse. Participate in in‑service training, preceptorship and mentorship of junior staff, post‑basic learners and students. Take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients.
Promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate patient care. Maintain personal development. Support the service across a 7‑day working pattern, including nights on Ward J24.
Qualifications Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or 2. Valid UK NMC registration (or be a final‑year nursing student due to complete a UK adult nursing programme within 5 months). Experience Understanding of current issues in health care.
Knowledge of research and evidence‑based practice. Aware of the speciality of gynaecology. Disclosure and Barring Service Check Applicants must have a Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
