The role: We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 NMC‑registered staff member within the Renal Dialysis Unit (RDU) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The unit provides haemodialysis treatment to renal outpatients, operating two patient shifts daily from Monday to Saturday. Our unit is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and is part of the larger NHS GGC renal services, which include six outpatient haemodialysis units, two community home therapies training units, a renal immediate assessment unit and a 65‑bed inpatient hub also located within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern This is a fixed‑term post for 12 months This is an 18‑hour post; hours are Monday to Saturday (long days) Post is based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours. Key responsibilities You will work within the nursing and multi‑professional team to ensure a high standard of care to a defined patient group.

You will be trained to perform the necessary technical aspects of care, including management and care of tunnelled central venous catheters, cannulation of AV fistulas and operation of NIKKISO dialysis machines. Teamwork is crucial; we seek individuals who are committed to maintaining the positive and friendly atmosphere within our unit. Previous haemodialysis experience is preferable but not essential, as teaching and training will be provided.

The post is therefore an excellent opportunity to develop renal nursing skills within a friendly outpatient environment. Trainees are supported by a local mentor and the renal educator team will provide a detailed training plan, materials and ongoing support.
