What You Will Do:
- Enterprise Applications Engineering at TJX delivers highly integrated, secure, and scalable platforms that support global HR and Associate experiences.
- As a Staff Engineer Workday HCM, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for Workday Core HCM and enterprise integrations. You will lead and deliver Epics, influence platform-level decisions, and partner closely with architects, product managers, HR stakeholders, and engineering teams to evolve TJXs Workday ecosystem.
- This role requires deep expertise in Workday Core HCM, integration architecture, DevSecOps practices, and HR business processes, with the ability to clearly communicate technology strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences while mentoring engineers across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Solution Ownership:
- Lead design, implementation, and support of Workday Core HCM solutions including worker lifecycle, organizations, job architecture, business process framework, and security.
- Architect and deliver medium-to-high complexity enterprise integrations using Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, REST/SOAP APIs,APIGee,and middleware platforms.
- Fully own Epics end to endcreating architecture, threat models, estimates, designs, configurations, development standards, testing strategies, and production readiness.
- Build solutions that meet non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, reliability, and SOX compliance.
- Lead complex design discussions to solve visible, strategic, and cross-domain business problems.
Technical Leadership & Strategy:
- Act as a technical leader for the Workday HCM platform, influencing solution direction across product teams.
- Make architecture, integration, and design decisions within scope, aligning to TJX enterprise standards and long-term roadmaps.
- Contribute to and help define platform-level architectural patterns, integration standards, and best practices.
- Identify emerging technologies and lead proofs of concept to evaluate future Workday and HR technology directions.
- Partner with architects and product leaders to roadmap technical capabilities aligned to HR strategy.
DevSecOps, Quality & Operational Excellence:
- Create and champion DevSecOps best practices for Workday and SaaS integrations, including automation, monitoring, testing, and release readiness.
- Ensure solutions are operationally robust, observable, secure, and resilient.
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex production issues.
- Own release impacts, regression testing, deployment coordination, and post-release validation.
Talent Development & Influence:
- Mentor and coach engineers across the Workday and enterprise application teams.
- Support onboarding and skill development of new hires.
- Participate in technical interviews and hiring decisions.
- Share knowledge through documentation, design reviews, and technical enablement sessions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR, Product, and Engineering leaders.
What You Will Need (Minimum Qualifications):
- 58 years of Workday HCM experience with deep functional expertise in Core HCM.
- Advanced experience designing and delivering Workday integrations, including Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs, and Web Services.
- Proven experience leading and owning Epics with minimal guidance.
- Strong understanding of Workday Business Process Framework, security domains, data flows, and reporting.
- Expertise in Workday integration architecture, error handling, monitoring, and scalability.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments, influencing outcomes beyond immediate team boundaries.
- Strong critical-thinking, decision-making, and stakeholder communication skills.
