Job Description
The Role We are seeking a high-performing Senior Reservoir Engineer to serve as a technical authority within our Subsurface team. This role focuses on the strategic development of the Permian Basin, leading the technical design, execution, and optimization of Enhanced Oil Recovery through Gas Huff‑and‑Puff operations. The candidate will integrate advanced compositional modeling with real‑time operational data to unlock incremental recovery and maximize value.
Key Responsibilities Asset Development: Create and refine 'Vision Well' designs for various Permian benches ranging from Clearfork to Woodford. HnP Lifecycle: Lead end‑to‑end technical design of HnP pilots, optimizing soak times, injection rates, and analyzing recovery factors. Fluid Modeling: Utilize WhitsonPVT to develop robust models for accurate compositional simulation.
Well Spacing: Recommend optimal spacing and stimulation designs based on high‑fidelity reservoir analysis. Economic Support: Provide production forecasts to build robust economic cases for IOR/EOR projects. Reserves: Lead documentation for annual reserves reporting in compliance with SEC/PRMS guidelines.
Lead contact on JIP field test projects. Qualifications BS degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in reservoir engineering.
At least 3 years of unconventional development experience; Permian Basin experience preferred. Strong preference for enhanced oil recovery experience, including simulation and huff‑and‑puff operations. At least 3 years of experience with advanced RTA analysis.
At least 3 years of experience in ComboCurve or similar tools for cloud‑based type curve generation and economic forecasting. Proficient in written and spoken English; Spanish fluency desirable. Experience with third‑party data platforms (e.g., Enverus, NoviLabs).
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Spotfire. Experience implementing AI/ML‑enabled workflows preferred. Expert‑level proficiency in CMG GEM, Eclipse 300, or tNavigator for complex fluid modeling.
Deep experience in designing and optimizing Gas Huff‑and‑Puff cycles (CO2 or produced gas) for tight oil reservoirs. Significant experience with Whitson+ for multi‑well tracking. Advanced skill in EOS modeling and fluid characterization using WhitsonPVT.
Candidate Profile Mid‑level, high performing or high‑potential employee (10+ years of experience). Demonstrated ability to work with operators, partners, and suppliers. Flexibility to travel to the field and between Colombia and Texas as required.
Fluency in English and Spanish desirable. Interest in pursuing a long‑term career in Ecopetrol post‑secondment. Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and collaboration.
