Description AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. Amazon Web Services is seeking Mechanical Engineers to become part of a global engineering team, responsible for the implementation and technical evaluation of our designs and the continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint. Key job responsibilities Design and implement energy‑efficient mechanical systems for data centers Partner with teams to develop innovative cooling solutions and sustainability initiatives CFD modeling and analysis experience BIM/Revit experience Create comprehensive documentation for mechanical designs and operational procedures Support continuous improvement through data analysis and system optimization Guide project teams through planning, execution, and commissioning phases Conceives, initiates, and leads projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation Decompose complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures and countries Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams and reports Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Mechanical Basis of Design (BoD) with constant auditing Drive standardization in the data center mechanical designs Development of strategic solutions, which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well‑defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during innovation and research and development projects Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment Review and approval of critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE’s), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions Maintain and host technical mechanical forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of data center mechanical systems Provide support and mentorship for the whole of the Data Center Engineering community Have fun and offer creative out‑of‑the‑box solutions Basic Qualifications 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.) CFD modeling and analysis Revit/BIM modeling experience Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineering or Architectural License Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents Company Amazon Data Services, Inc.
