Job Overview Be an integral part of an agile team that constantly pushes the envelope to enhance, build, and deliver top‑notch technology products. As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the VPC Network organization, you will bring deep engineering expertise and collaborate across teams to design, build, and launch the JPMC‑VPC software‑defined networking platform, modernizing our legacy infrastructure and positioning the firm for decades of innovation. Responsibilities Advise and lead strategy and development across multiple products, applications, and technologies within the portfolio.
Design and architect core components of JPMC‑VPC, including control plane (OVN), data plane (OVS/DPU), software gateways, load balancers, and IPAM systems. Create novel code solutions and drive the development of new production‑quality capabilities across teams. Write production‑quality code in Go, Python, or C/C++ for networking infrastructure.
Translate complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership for strategic decision‑making. Collaborate with vendor partners (Red Hat, NVIDIA) on roadmap and integration. Represent JPMorgan Chase in open‑source communities and industry forums.
Drive adoption and implementation of technical methods and modern development practices across specialized fields. Create durable, reusable software frameworks leveraged across teams. Influence business, product, and technology teams, managing senior stakeholder relationships.
Champion the firm’s culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect. Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, networking, or distributed systems. Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Expertise in one or more programming languages: Go, Python, C/C++, or Rust. Demonstrated experience influencing cross‑functional teams and delivering scalable value. Hands‑on experience with software‑defined networking technologies such as OVN or OVS.
Expert‑level knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, load balancing). Experience with modern development practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability). Ability to apply expertise and new methods to solve complex technology problems across disciplines.
Extensive practical cloud‑native experience. Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field. Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills Experience with DPU/SmartNIC technologies (e.g., NVIDIA BlueField, AMD Pensando, Intel IPU).
Knowledge of eBPF, XDP, DPDK, or other high‑performance networking frameworks. Experience with CNI implementations (Cilium, Calico, Flannel) and Kubernetes networking. Understanding of BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, EVPN, or other advanced routing protocols.
