An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Specialist Tissue Viability Nurse within the WWL Tissue Viability Service.

We are looking for a highly skilled, innovative, dynamic and motivated nurse with clinical and leadership skills in Tissue Viability to join the Team.

This post requires an enthusiastic individual to work in a progressive area who will enjoy involvement in change management. You will be leading and working with the existing tissue viability team to transform the current service provision.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate should ideally have experience working within a Tissue Viability Service.

You will work closely with the TVNs, clinical leads, acute and community teams to further improve reduction in pressure ulcer incidents and improve quality in wound management across WWL.

You will demonstrate flexibility, excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to develop, deliver and evaluate quality improvement projects within the service.

The ability to travel between both community and acute sites is essential.

You will be expected to be involved in tissue viability audit and education and will facilitate the implementation of best practice.

Applicants must have experience working collaboratively across acute and community setting within a tissue viability role or similar, with sound knowledge and clinical skills in all areas of wound management.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will support the service in the development of clinical procedures, protocols and practice to ensure effective delivery of service to patients within the Trust.

Duties and responsibilities will include to lead co-ordinate and develop a specialist and evidence based wound care service and involve the development and provision of education to all healthcare professionals across WWL.

A working knowledge of the current local and national healthcare agenda to influence best practice in line with tissue viability issues and organisational objectives.

Person specification

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Adult Branch)
• Post registration qualification in tissue viability to minimum level 6
• Post registration qualification in the care and management of leg ulcers to minimum level 6
• Advanced Degree in Tissue Viability Non-Medical Prescriber
• Evidence of professional development
• Healthcare related first level Degree Teaching Qualification

Experience

• Experience working at minimum Band 6 within Tissue Viability
• Experience in tissue viability including the management of highly complex wounds
• Experience of developing and delivering training and education tailored to meet group/individuals needs
• Experience of assessing standards of practice
• Policy development and implementation
• Experience of developing nursing practice
• Experience of change management, leadership and innovation
• Participation in audit
• Use of Datix or equivalent
• Working with key stakeholders including patients, staff & external partners
• Delivery of formal presentations & workshop style training to large and small audiences
• Collation & analysis of complex data
• Knowledge of budget management

• Ability to travel between sites & further afield to attend meetings etc.
