Software Development Manager, Global Logistics Amazon Global Logistics is seeking a Software Development Manager to solve deep technical problems and build innovative solutions in a fast paced environment working with smart, passionate software developers and product managers. This is an opportunity to define, build, and deliver projects that have direct technical, product and business impact on Amazon. This role will give you the chance to work with many different teams and learn a range of new systems, leveraging the deep collection of technologies throughout the company and extending them to allow us to boldly go where no other company has gone before in the logistics industry.
This is a great position for someone who can easily scale up and down their thinking architecturally to bring customer‑centric solutions to market by intellectual leadership and influence on technology, product and business teams. You will be leading a significant piece of Transportation technology and will work on some of the initiatives planned to support our rapid evolution and growth of the network and solve some of the most challenging problems. You will regularly interact with Senior Leadership across the company and will be overall responsible for driving the technology vision and roadmap for services owned.
We are looking for Software Development Managers who are passionate about conceptualizing, building and operating massively scalable systems. You will be leading some of the smartest engineering teams and will be responsible for driving best practices and continuous improvements in operational and engineering excellence. Key Job Responsibilities Define, build, and deliver projects that have direct technical, product, and business impact on Amazon.
Lead significant pieces of Transportation technology. Interact with Senior Leadership and drive technology vision and roadmap for services owned. Partner and collaborate with product or program management teams.
Architect and design new and existing systems for reliability, scalability, and performance. Coordinate resources and implement action plans across multiple projects. Basic Qualifications 7+ years of engineering experience. 3+ years of engineering team management experience. 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations. Experience partnering with product or program management teams. Preferred Qualifications Excellent judgment, high standards, and ability to hire and develop great people.
Strategic thinking with strong tactical execution and innovation orientation. Results‑oriented with the ability to inspire passion in others. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven ability to define needs, develop plans, coordinate resources, and implement action plans. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and resolve scheduling conflicts. Track record of delivering quality software products on time and on budget.
Experience with a variety of development methodologies and maturity in evaluating strengths and weaknesses. Experience with enterprise software architecture, Java, relational databases. Solid experience with Agile methods, cloud-based architectures, and mobile technologies.
