Software Development Manager, AI Powered Search

Job Summary We are currently seeking a Software Development Manager to join our Engineering team for the AI-Powered Search Team, part of the AI Platform organization. This role is available to candidates across Canada, excluding Quebec. Location & Work Model If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto), you will be expected to be in the office minimum twice per week on one of our Anchor Days.

Hybrid work environment is available for local Clions (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin and Sydney). Responsibilities Collaborate with your triad (Designer + Product + Development Manager leadership group) to understand business challenges, identify high-impact opportunities, and craft a team roadmap. Work with your team on designing technical architectures and solutions.

Provide feedback on code reviews, architecture documents, and other technical decisions to support team members. Actively contribute as a developer by reviewing code or shipping code. Conduct 1:1 meetings with direct reports to support career growth and development goals.

Participate in hiring to grow the engineering team. Review code contributed by team members or other Clio developers sharing your expertise. Qualifications Demonstrated success in people leadership in software development, particularly with large-scale SaaS products.

Strong background in hands‑on software development and diverse knowledge to solve complex technical problems. Ability to describe successful projects you worked on and lessons learned from failed projects. Proven ability to hire, coach, develop, and retain engineering talent in a fast‑paced market.

Enthusiastic about both technical work and contributing to your team’s career growth. Strong, honest, actionable feedback culture and ability to foster weak‑held opinions. Strategic roadmap designer who adapts to change in a constantly evolving environment.

Growth mindset around process improvement and new technologies, especially AI. Bonus Points Experience implementing large‑scale search systems. Philosophy on building great software development teams.

Experience with CRM products at scale. Experience with Ruby on Rails. Compensation & Benefits Competitive, equitable salary with top‑tier health benefits, dental, and vision insurance.

Salary range: $176,000 to $264,000 CAD, with adjustments for geographical region and experience. Hybrid work environment is expected for local Clions (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin, and Sydney) to be in office minimum twice per week.
