Overview
In this role you will lead the squad responsible for secure, observable, and reliable software in the .NET ecosystem. You’ll combine hands-on engineering with people leadership, shaping delivery plans and technical direction in collaboration with product and architecture teams. You’ll guide complex back-end design, drive quality and live-operations readiness, and work with platform specialists on CI/CD, cloud, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities- Design, build, test, and maintain secure, observable, reliable software in high-risk areas
- Lead, coach, and mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and feedback
- Shape delivery plans with Product Owner and Delivery Manager, including dependencies and trade-offs
- Provide technical direction with Architecture team across design, security, testing, observability, and deployment
- Clarify requirements with stakeholders and translate priorities into sustainable engineering outcomes
- Establish and maintain engineering standards for source control, testing, secure development, and release readiness
- Own technical assurance via code reviews, automated quality controls, and security scanning
- Collaborate with Platform team to improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines) and leverage platform tooling
- Contribute to cloud-native design on Azure, with emphasis on security, resilience, and cost
- Work with Platform on IaC (Terraform) contributions without owning shared modules or state
- Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify and manage technical and delivery risks including security, performance, and technical debt
- Support production through monitoring, incident response, and service improvements
- Evaluate technologies and practices to reduce risk and increase customer value
- Improve delivery flow, predictability, quality, and operational performance
- Deep knowledge of C#, ASP.NET Core, and the .NET ecosystem
- Experience designing secure REST APIs, background services, and distributed systems
- Understanding of microservices, event-driven architecture, and service boundaries
- Relational data experience with SQL Server and Entity Framework Core
- Cloud-native service design for Microsoft Azure including compute, storage, identity, and networking
- Strong authentication, authorization, secrets management, and secure API design
- Experience with automated testing across unit, integration, contract, and performance
- Structured logging, metrics, tracing, and operational diagnostics
- Ability to lead back-end architecture, integration design, data concerns, service reliability, and performance
- Experience with CI/CD concepts and pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines)
- Terraform knowledge for infrastructure changes and IaC concepts
- Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders
- Experience supporting production services including incident response and debt management
