Software Development Engineer (Seattle)

ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Software Development Engineer II support a high-impact data and technology team in Seattle, WA or New York, NY . This 9-month contract role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who thrives at the intersection of software development and data analytics, and enjoys building scalable systems that power business insights. The Software Development Engineer II will play a key role in architecting data-driven applications, enabling advanced analytics, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver innovative solutions.

Job Description: • Design and architect scalable, end-to-end applications integrating front-end systems, back-end services, and data pipelines • Develop and optimize data architectures to support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence use cases • Perform deep data analysis, including data exploration, visualization, and insight generation • Build automated and scalable processes for data analysis, model development, validation, and implementation • Write complex SQL queries and develop scripts to support business logic and data transformations • Leverage cloud technologies to support data processing, storage, and analytics workflows • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including data engineering, research, marketing, and business stakeholders • Contribute to system design, technical strategy, and roadmap planning across data and application ecosystems • Support development and integration of data warehouse solutions and backend services • Continuously identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency of systems and processes Must Have Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience in software architecture and development of data-driven or web-based applications • 3+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or data science environments • 2+ years of experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms • Strong expertise in service-oriented architecture (SOA), data architecture, and data modeling • Advanced proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or Scala • Experience working with AWS data services and cloud-based data platforms • Fundamental understanding of data science and machine learning concepts • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in ambiguous, fast-paced environments • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams Nice to Have Qualifications: • Experience with full-stack development and modern web technologies • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and distributed systems design • Experience working in highly cross-functional, product-driven environments • Exposure to large-scale data platforms and real-time data processing systems
