Description and Requirements Lenovo is building the next generation of intelligent device experiences powered by Qira , our crossâdevice Personal AI platform. We are hiring a Software Development Engineer to contribute to the development and integration of system â level software components across embedded devices running Android, Linux, and RTOS â based operating systems . This is an individual contributor role focused on handsâon system engineering and embedded software development.
You will work closely with crossâfunctional teams to design, implement, debug, andoptimizesystem components that enable reliable, highâperformance device functionality across Lenovo platforms. WhatYouâllDo Contribute to the design, development, and integration of system â level software for embedded consumer and CE devices. Develop and enhance OS â level components, middleware, and services running on Android, Linux, or RTOS platforms.
Work on lowâlevel software interactions involving device drivers, OS services, hardware interfaces, and middleware layers . Debug complex, multiâlayer workflows spanning applications, system services, and underlying OS components. Perform performance analysis and optimization related to stability, latency, memory usage, and system responsiveness .
Collaborate effectively with hardware, firmware, platform, and application teams to resolve systemâlevel issues. Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical problemâsolving across functional boundaries. Contribute to documentation and technical artifacts that support system integration and longâterm maintainability.
Basic Qualifications 5+ years of handsâon experience in system software or embedded software development . Experience working on embedded or CE devices running Android, Linux, and/or RTOS . Bachelorâs Degree in Engineeringora relatedtechnical field.
Strong programming experience in C++ ; experiencewith Rust is highly preferred. Solid understanding of OS fundamentals , including processes, memory management, threading, IPC, and device I/O. Proven ability to debug complex system â level issues across software layers.
Strong communicationskills and ability to work effectively in cross â functional engineering environments . Preferred Qualifications Experience developing system or middleware components close to hardware. Familiarity with Android system internals, Linux system programming, or RTOS environments.
Exposure toperformance tuning, profiling tools, or systemâlevel debugging on embedded platforms. Experience working with hardware bringâup teams or siliconâspecific software components. Background in consumer electronics, IoT, or embedded product development.
Interestin building reliable, maintainable, and wellâarchitected system software.
