Software Developer
Incognito Software Systems Inc
Job Description
Job Summary:
As a Software Developer on the Maintenance and Compliance (M&C) product team at Helm, you will design, build, and enhance the features that keep the world's maritime fleets safe, compliant, and running. M&C is one of Helm CONNECT's most widely adopted product lines, and this seat sits at the center of two of Helm's most significant active engagements: the Kirby offshore implementation and the Boluda Corporacion Maritima global rollout. You'll work across the full stack - .NET/C# services, Vue.js front ends, and PostgreSQL - collaborating with product, QA, and fellow developers to ship reliable, scalable features against customer-committed timelines.
Job Description:
What you are responsible for:
- Design and implement M&C features across the full software stack, including maintenance workflows, compliance and document management, and asset/component tracking.
- Deliver integration work supporting enterprise customer deployments, including document synchronization with third‑party systems (e.g., SharePoint).
- Maintain sprint velocity and estimate accuracy against committed release windows for customer-contracted scope.
- Perform code reviews and ensure design and coding adhere to Helm's standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with product management, QA, and other developers in project planning to achieve high-value, high-quality solutions.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, kick‑offs, collaborative estimation, and retrospective meetings.
- Collaborate with support and implementation teams to investigate and resolve issues reported from live customer environments.
AI-Augmented Development:
- Leverage AI tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) for code generation, refactoring, test creation, and documentation as part of Helm's AI-first development SOP.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated output - catching errors, refining results, and ensuring AI-assisted work meets Helm's quality and security standards.
- Share AI practices and learnings with the team to continuously improve delivery velocity.
Quality and Ownership:
- Own the quality of your deliverables through unit testing, integration validation, and go‑live readiness support.
- Support post-release monitoring and issue resolution for the features you ship.
What you bring to the team:
- Technical Acumen:
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience with strongly typed object‑oriented languages (C# preferred).
- Experience with front‑end frameworks (Vue preferred) and modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS).
- Knowledge of relational database management systems (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Solid Git fundamentals - branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews in a shared repository.
- Business Acumen:
- Understanding of how software delivery connects to customer outcomes and revenue.
- Comfort working against contractual, customer‑committed deadlines.
- Communication:
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proactive communicator who shares progress, asks questions, and clarifies expectations without needing to be asked.
- Education, Certifications and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Bonus points if you also have:
- Maritime Industry Knowledge.
- Experience with enterprise document management or SharePoint integration.
- Hands‑on experience using AI tools (Claude Code, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate development work.
- Experience with multi‑tenant SaaS platforms or ERP integrations.

- Self-Motivated: You take charge of your workload, ensuring you meet deliverables with ease.
- Communication Skills: Your words, whether written or spoken, always hit the mark.
