Software Developer (Contract) - Calgary, In-Office

Job Description Job Description About the Role A Fortune 500 company is seeking a Junior or Intermediate Software Developer to join a team building and supporting an IoT platform used to monitor, alert, and control environmental conditions across industrial sites. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys back-end development in a cloud-native AWS environment and is interested in contributing to scalable, real-world systems. This is a 6-month contract position based in Calgary, Alberta, with the potential to transition into a full-time role.

This is an in-office position. Responsibilities Software Development Collaborate with development and operations teams to gather and refine requirements for new features Design, develop, and implement new functionality based on approved requirements Perform unit, developer, and integration testing to ensure solution quality Contribute to the ongoing improvement of system architecture, scalability, and maintainability Application Support Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues Diagnose system failures, inconsistencies, and performance issues Work closely with operations teams to ensure platform reliability and stability Customer Experience Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve product usability and overall user experience Support continuous improvement initiatives based on customer feedback Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Experience with back-end development, ideally in AWS-based environments Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React and Redux is considered an asset Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset What We Offer Opportunity to work on impactful, large-scale IoT solutions Exposure to modern cloud technologies and scalable architectures Collaborative and supportive team environment Potential for long-term employment opportunities
