Job Description
The Software Developer Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting IRC’s global Data Toolkits and analyzing data generated by these products. The role focuses on data collection and program administration technology support, working closely with the METAL Unit to support program teams' data collection and use in the field.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Data Toolkits in CommCare.
- Design and build PowerBI Dashboards linked to live CommCare data.
- Review and analyze software requirements, confirm feasibility and complexity, and convert them into estimated developer tasks.
- Provide updates and technology insights/clarifications to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain data and metadata definitions, documentation and versioning.
- Create technical documentation including system diagrams and implementation manuals.
- Implement and maintain data quality processes and development standards.
- Ensure compliance with IRC’s data protection, confidentiality, and security policies.
- Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 support for measurement technology products rolled out.
- Provide training and hyper-support on measurement technology products during piloting and rollout in collaboration with regional technology teams.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- Three to six years of experience working in technology domain to develop and rollout data or technology platforms for programs – out of which, at least three years of experience developing, implementing, and supporting CommCare development for large and complex programs.
- Experience in source code and version control platforms, for example, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Strong in team development processes including pair programming, shadow sessions, code reviews and other strategies to ensure high-quality programming.
- Strong code quality assurance practices including unit testing, integration testing, as well as regression testing to ensure quality of the code getting shipped into production.
- Working knowledge of agile software delivery practices (user stories, backlog grooming, sprint ceremonies) and a demonstrated preference for iterative, requirements-driven development.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English both in verbal and written form, including explaining complex technology issues in layman’s terms.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure fidelity to requirements and high-quality products.
- Strong analytic curiosity and innovative problem-solving skills using a system thinking approach.
- Demonstrable ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional team structure.
- Demonstrable ability to establish and maintain working relationships across all departments and levels of the organization.
- Experience with Databricks, Dataverse connectors, APIs, and Microsoft Azure
